Gogo's LTE Network Transition

What you need to know

In May 2026 our Gogo Biz licensed air-to-ground (ATG) network will transition to newer LTE technology. The results of this network update will benefit both passengers and operators in terms of experience and longevity of staying connected with the best inflight connected experience available. At this time, any aircraft operating a legacy ATG system (ATG 1000, 2000, 4000, 5000, 8000) will lose inflight connectivity capabilities.

What is happening and how will it affect you?

  • The LTE network will require an update to both Gogo’s ground-based infrastructure as well as the hardware onboard the aircraft for any aircraft flying with a legacy ATG system (ATG 1000, 2000, 4000, 5000, 8000).
  • Certain customers with early-era AVANCE hardware will also need to exchange their system to newer, LTE-capable AVANCE hardware. Learn more about the AVANCE Box Exchange program here.
  • Gogo is offering incentive programs to upgrade/exchange onboard hardware to ensure no loss in connectivity through network transition as part of the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program.

What are my options?

  • Gogo AVANCE systems today are designed to operate on both the current Gogo Biz network and the future LTE network, and upgrading to AVANCE will provide both immediate and long-term benefits:
    • AVANCE L3 will provide an immediate performance improvement over your legacy ATG system today, and will gain a 40% performance boost in 2026 with our new LTE network.
    • AVANCE L5 will provide an experience 3x more powerful than your legacy ATG system today, and an additional 10% improvement in the experience once the new network is online.
    • AVANCE LX5 will operate on our Gogo 5G network, our best in class ATG network for passengers and operators who want to do it all.
    • Gogo Galileo is our global LEO satellite service that is accessible via any AVANCE system with the simple addition of a single fuselage mounted antenna. With speeds of 43-60mbps with our smallest, HDX antenna, that will fit on any business aircraft, and 145-195mbps with FDX, Gogo Galileo is ready to keep up with all of your digital demands and more.
  • The AVANCE platform also provides significant additional benefits such as remote operational support, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and over-the-air update capabilities - backed by an industry leading team of aviation experts, plus Gogo’s leading inflight entertainment service, Gogo Vision (including moving maps, movies, tv-shows, eMagazines).
  • Gogo C1 serves as a form-fit replacement* for your legacy ATG system and will also operate on both the current Gogo Biz network and the future LTE network. Your onboard wi-fi experience will be very similar to your current system. The Gogo C1 was designed to maintain your current connectivity with minimal downtime and changes to your existing installation. Gogo C1 is not an AVANCE system.

*Not every legacy ATG installation is the same and there may be minimal re-pinning required. Please have your Dealer or maintenance personnel consult our Installation Manual.
